Kristin DiCara & Nathan McClellan under the name Mystic Folk Opera, and then John Colvert will perform at the Sunapee Community Coffeehouse in Sunapee , NH on Friday October 1 st at 7pm

Mystic Folk Opera is an acoustic rock duo comprised of singer/songwriters Kristin DiCara & Nathan McClellan. Both musicians have extensive live and studio experience from a variety of musical acts over the years. Nathan from Oceanside, CA, a veteran of the L.A. underground rock scene, was the lead guitarist for a popular band in California.
The pair were introduced by a mutual friend at one of Denver's premier venues The Mercury Cafe one night when Kristin was headlining there. They hit it off both musically and personally; eventually they formed their first project together, Kismet Calls. This musical sojourn would immediately take them throughout Colorado and had them on the airwaves on several college radio stations...

After the duo was married in 1998 they moved to New Jersey and they started a family. The songs which emerged from this period of time play like a soundtrack to the married life "for better AND worse" as they like to say. Out of this they chalked up a huge catalogue of quality tunes, but, perhaps more importantly, developed what would eventually become a more recognizable style that they could call their own; rising once again with a new breed of musicality between them. Now, armed with a name befitting the experience their music projects, they are back on the scene based in Portland, Maine, building a presence with a sound that works surprisingly well in its rawest possible form...cutting and driven acoustic guitars and delicate harmonies brandishing deep, powerfully evocative, lyrics. In 2009 they produced the album
Secrets of A Hostile Sun

John Colvert's song lyrics are sparse but the stories speak a truth that is impossible to ignore. The core of his songs are derived from his own personal loves and tragedies; combined with his spirited imagination, the sum equals unforgettable story songs that bring the listener along for the drive on Colvert's musical journey.

Colvert has come a long way from his early days of rambling among the bars of Southern Rhode Island plays in some of New England's finer listening rooms such as the legendary Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, as well as the Boston's best rock clubs. Colvert is making his musical mark in the esteemed Boston acoustic/Americana scene.

“…the emotion behind John's music is barely contained within his frame, telling all in the audience that there's a story behind his singing, and he's here to share it with all of us.”
